A canal behind my motel in Island Pond. Wish the light was better, but overcast was all I got.
But we had a gorgeous and sunny day on the 1,000 Islands boat tour. Just look at that sky!
On a less interesting note, I've had a nice 2 weeks off of work. But I'm putting the harness back on in the morning and have at least the next month without time off. And I got next to nothing completed about the house this past week except for canning cherry jelly and cleaning. I read four books, though. I read 3 the previous week. No writing, no lawn mowing (good thing it's been dry, it hasn't grown to ridiculously shaggy yet). I did get the electrician in to fix the problem, and had a fellow regrade the driveway. And I bought a bunch of canning equipment because I managed to leave it all behind when I left New Hampshire back in 87. Now, however, I have all the stuff I could use. Bwahahaha!
If I was sure it would be safe to ship, I'd offer a half pint as a prize in the upcoming blog contest. Because, peeps, I am going to be celebrating my 4th blogaverssary on August 7th.
What do we want for a prize???? Besides jam, which will break and give the appearance of oozing blood and freak out the postal carriers?
Oh, and do we want a writing contest again? What say ye?
Those red flowers look like satanic daisies, LOL! All they need are jaggedier leaves, and huge thorns. :)

They look like Star Trek blooms. Hum, a contest. Sounds like fun but I'd have no idea what to suggest for you to give away for it.

A month without time off? Eek!
I loved the prize you once offered of cards you'd made. Or a paperback is easy to ship.
I'm away from 14th August but there should be time before then to write something if it's short.

I like that, Angie. Now, how to use it...

It was over 2 before vacation. I'm used to it. And it's voluntary. As it turns out, however, a reshuffle gives me next Sunday off.

Cherry jelly? I've never heard of that, let alone tasted it. I'm sort of getting the urge to do some canning since our garden is overflowing this year, but it means buying all kinds of jars and equipment and then learning how.
Love that picture of the flower. That is gorgeous!

Helen, if you want to try canning, jelly is the place to start. That, or pickles. And as I just had to buy the implements du canning, I can attest to the fact that it costs a significant amount to start up, but with free produce, the cost including sugar and jars, pectin and lids was only about $3 per jar, including the cost of new canning tongs and a steamer pot. Next time, the cost will be about a buck a half pint, which is a lot cheaper than commercial.
Sour cherry jam is wonderful. We are making elderberry jam and apple butter later this year.

howsabout naming that red flower, contest? ;)
[it DOES involve writing! :P lol]
one of your cards would be a neat prize...

I think there aren't any cards left, might be one set, though. I could do that again, and it would be easy enough!
