Awakened at 3 o'clock, and decided to get up and write. So I prepped for work, sat down at 4, wrote until about 5:15. Got precisely 297 words in. At this rate, I'll be just over my 4,000 word goal for January...and just in time.
I'm a writer of science fiction & fantasy who dreams of the day she can run screaming to the bank with the advance check for the next Great American Novel.

Hah, where did that name come from? That's so funny. I made it up once to comment on a newspaper's blog. I have no idea why it's suddenly popped up here...'tis me, McK.

That IS odd that your name popped up like that.

So I'm not the only one who wakes at ungodly hours and fired up the computer...

I'm SO not a morning person, but when things aren't getting done, I set the alarm clock for 4:30am. Killer. But it gets the job done.

I usually get up at 4:30 or 4:45 on work days. And I generally am up by 7 on off days. But I do sleep in sometimes.

I think you, Bernita and I need to start an insomniac writer's club. I was up at 4:30 this morning, scrambling out of my nice warm bed to scribble in my notebook.

Well, my sleep apnea makes me a light sleeper. Even with a mask, you can wake up a lot. I generally wake at 3 and go back to sleep, but today I just felt like getting up.
I get up early because I'm so darned slow in the mornings. Seriously ridiculously slow.
