I've fallen off the Opportunity Thursday wagon and have today climbed back upon it. Hope some of these are good for what you have on the stove!
Brain Harvest - emagazine that likes it speculative, shocking, and short (750 words or less.) Submission guidelines here. Pay is above the average.
Beneath Ceaseless Skies - a fantasy emagazine that loves literary fantasy, or any sort of fantasy that's set in a world substantially different from our own. Submissions page here.
Stygian Publications/Necrotic Tissue. Stories exactly 100 words or 101-5,000 words. They want horror: We are into horror, both speculative and psychological. We assume all stories submitted are fictional, so if they aren't, don't ever tell us. Any cross over genres with a strong horror element will be considered. Dark humor, that is done well, (how is that for subjective?) is always appreciated. Submissions guidelines here, but closed for submissions until January 1st, 2010. Pay: "The best story from each submission period will receive 5 cents per word, up to the maximum word count of 5,000 words for a total of up to $250 dollars." Everyone else gets $.01/word. NOTE: You can check out announcements for contests and calls for submissions by Stigian Press and its affiliated pubs here on their blog.
