Okay, I've made the executive decision about the prizes for the upcoming contest. I hope it tantalizes the heck out of you guys so you whip up a participation frenzy not quite like a gang of sharks in bloody water, but excited nonetheless.
There will be three prizes, because I happen to have three prizes. Winner, runner up and "best use of the prompt." Prize winners get to pick their prizes in the order given above.
Prize option #1:
A Buddy Christ Bobblehead as seen in the Kevin Smith/Jay & Silent Bob movie Dogma.
Prize option #2:
Nunzilla, your favorite senseless toy from yesteryear. (I bet you always wanted one!) She's just about 3 inches tall, but firey fun nonetheless.
Prize option #3:
Steampunk, an anthology by Ann & Jeff Vandermeer. Great collection, IMO. Read a great interview of them here.
Or...Prize Option #4:
Something on spec: art by moi. I'd like to offer some existing art of mine, but I haven't done anything new lately except masses of photography; and, if I'm being honest, I don't have anything sitting around that I'm willing to part with! That said, if you desperately want some art and are willing to gamble, you may choose this option. Your prize will be no larger than I can reasonably fit into a mailer envelope, and may be either charcoal, pencil, pen-and-ink or a photographic print if I render it digitally. I might even get fancy and do something multi-media. Whatever I do, though, it will have a fantasy flavor, and I'll try to take your preferences into account. (Just be warned, my artistic muse doesn't do bespoke terribly well. Like with cats and DaVinci, requests are just suggestions.) And a further codicil: It might take a few weeks, as work takes up much of my time. Samples here.
PS, I think I'll be posting a prompt by end of day tomorrow, as the comments have screeched to a halt. Besides, I think we have enough in the hopper to fester up an idea or two. *rubs hands together in an evil manner* Bwahahaha!
Both #4 prize options sound great!

I must have caught that typo about the time you wrote that, o snarky one. ;)
I am a terrible proofreader. I read that thing at least 20 times and didn't see a couple of errors.

oooh, those are quite neat. I don't know which one I'd rather have.

If I didn't already have a Buddy Christ bobblehead of my very own, I'd be drooling over that one, lol. (I MUST sample prizes before I give them away, you know. But the prizes are NEW. I keep the 'samples.'
